The Talk: A Hard Conversation About Race in America
Produced by: Charisse Gibson, Derek Waldrip
The National Edward R Murrow award-winning “Talk” series was the culmination of conversations we all were having across America in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder. Charisse Gibson wanted to give Black men, women and children a platform to express how racial anxiety pushes Black Americans to have conversations of survival and how those conversations evolve over time. Despite the warnings of our parents, micro-aggressions and bias have proven to put minorities in harms way. As the “Black Lives Matter” movement makes its way across America it takes with it “The Talk” which has now expanded outside of America’s Black households, and into the world. In sharing those conversations, we hope to come across a more listening/understanding ear. Can we recognize our bias and work towards creating a just future for all? This is what our series hopes to explore.
